The founder and creator of DZX Productions created the first ever DZX
music video in late 2001. Originally formed as "DM Productions",
SquareLinkinPark
was originally a test of the schools new video editing computer
equipment conducted between AC, and a now retired DZX member. The end
result may have not been the most thrilling video ever, but it would
soon draw the interest of two new members and form the foundation for
a new music video production group, making it revolutionary in it's
own right.
DZX (Dave
(AC), Archangel Zero,
Sephiroth X) Productions
was formed. AC created the first DZX web page and guestbook, featuring
many of the same sections as this website. The other members also got their
separate pages added onto the main site.
What came next was DZX's first wave of
music videos. At the time, the three members had limited technology
and resources for making AMVs. They only had footage from the Final Fantasy games
and a hand full of anime episodes. One of DZX's favorite games was Final Fantasy
VII, so you could only tell what happened next. DZX released several
videos to the acclaimed game, sometimes delving into anime and other
Square games. Among these were landmark videos for DZX, edited by
Altruistic Crono, including How Does It Feel, Nanbara's A Dentist!
and Death Is No Option. In fact, due to it's superior quality, the latter spawned a new acronym
and running joke in DZX. Members new videos were judged to see whether
or not it was a "DINO", meaning a new DZX
blockbuster/excellent video.
When DZX transferred over to Premiere,
however, AC went dormant due to hardware and software issues. AC
fought an uphill battle with a crash-happy Premiere and unstable
footage for his Premiere entry video, but eventually he came up with
Know The Truth, an excellent Matrix tribute. AC was back in business.
Altruistic Crono's
editing technique is refined and his videos hold up well with many
that are out there on the internet. He aims to tell a story to the
viewer and to take them by surprise. Thanks to AC's hard work, DZX has
seen more exposure than ever. Don't be surprised to see the DZX name
pop up more frequently in the AMV community... |

A long time
friend of Altruistic Crono, Archangel Zero joined shortly after the
"M" in DM Productions dropped out. AZ first discovered AMVs
when AC showed him the work he had done with his "Chrono Fantasy"
series of videos. The creative spark was instantly ignited. Taking
notes from AC's works, AZ created I'll Never forgive You, and
in one fell swoop, DM Productions became DZ Productions. (for 3 days
anyway)
Although scarce, AZ's videos have
historically been loaded with high production value and ingenious
simplicity. He lives by the old adage "quality over quantity", and
videos like Dying Tonight and Last Time prove that a
video doesn't need to be loaded with special effects to be great.
However, none of us knew exactly how
seriously he took this underused approach at video editing... that is,
until the release of Hold So Dear. While still a hotly debated
topic here at DZX, the majority of our member will agree that this is
undoubtedly the single greatest video we have ever made. The video
wrenched at our hearts and kept us captivated and in awe for its
entire 4 minute and 20 second time span. This was the dictionary
definition of "genius in its simplicity"
Since then, AZ's offerings have been
scarce, but videos like Gravity (AZ's first and only Premiere
video to this day) reassure us that he still has it in him.
Archangel Zero's editing style aims to
reach deep down into the viewers heart and soul and pull only the
purest and strongest emotions from deep within. When a video can
reduce even a grown man to tears using purely emotional power, you
know you're doing something right. AZ is unable to edit videos at this
time, so the best we can do is wish him luck in his future endeavors.

DZX simply
would not be where it is today in terms of content if it weren't for a
large effort on the part of Sephiroth X. He has (quite literally) done
more for DZX than any of us ever asked him to, and quite frankly, we
feel that the website and company as a whole would not be the same
without his incredible contributions.
Joining up just three days after Archangel
Zero, Sephiroth X decided to stick to familiar territory, releasing a
series of Final Fantasy VII videos to kick off his career. However, it
wasn't until he began to dip into other sources of footage that his
true potential began to show through. Some of X's best videos (from
the Movie Maker era) include No More Lies, The X Project,
and X's rendition of Invincible.
But these videos were only the tip of the
iceberg for the aspiring director. After DZX transferred to Premiere
and created its first official message board, X went into a creative
frenzy, and his editing skills soared through the roof. Into My
Eyes was easily one of DZX's greatest videos, if not the best all
around video this organization has ever produced. Following closely on
the heels of a masterpiece, X continued to stun the other members with
videos like Killing Machine, The One, and X's answer to his earlier (and
sub-par) FFVII videos with Never Be Alright.
It was at around this time that X noticed
the popularity of role-playing among the message board members, and
answered with an incredible revelation. Sephiroth X created the
Promised Land RPG, and the message board was never the same. What was
originally a simple game turned out to be a stunning multi-author,
ongoing piece of fan fiction. Featuring deep characters, unexpected
plot twists, and intense action, the various board
goers and DZX members created nearly a novel's worth of content, and
it quickly became a highlight of DZX and a whole new way for fans to
interact with official members. An unexpected hacker attack wiped out
a good chunk of the content, but the RPG still continues to grow, and X even hints
at a possible sequel set in a future time period.
X has proven that he can tackle any genre
of video, although his forte is to smash the viewer in the face with a
500 ton titanium fist of action. He has the most (and some of the
best) videos of any member, created a new message board sensation, and
was even responsible for the first major website redesign. I believe
that no more needs to be said about the significance and impact
Sephiroth X has had on this company. |

Borrowing his
name from his Halo alias (and an unnecessary 11 character limit), SqiKy
kLeen involved the DZX members
in the local Halo LAN parties, giving them a chance to show off their
works to a live audience. Many of their new videos would premiere at
these parties.
SK became a member
about a month before then, when he found out that Altruistic Crono was doing
Death Is No Option for a class project. In similar fashion, SK began work
on Love Of A Hero for a class project of his own. The video
earned him unanimous acceptance into DZX.
SK's next videos were hit or miss due to
software difficulties. After finally recovering from computer issues
and getting a copy of Premiere, SK decided to begin production on a
video the likes of which DZX had never seen before. It would be DZX's
first Premiere edited video and be the first horror genre video for
the group. The Cage received mixed fanfare at first due to scenes
that were considered shocking and grotesque for the time. It was later complimented
for its artistic approach and is now one of DZX's defining videos.
SqiKy kLeen's goal in producing videos is
to make something that nobody has ever seen before. He aims to catch
the viewer off guard with original and creative presentation. Real life issues have bogged down SK's editing
progress, but in the meantime he continues to work on the website
and message board. He assures us that bigger things are coming. |

The longest
unofficial DZX Member in history accepted an
invitation to DZX Productions at the end of summer 2006 in an
unanimous membership decision.
Originally Waffle King was the founder of a small productions group
named Double Thumbs Productions which consisted of a few friends of
the local Halo LAN parties that brought DZX Productions member, Sqiky
Kleen. Unfortunately, DTP never got far off the
ground with the exception of a few creative gems from Waffle King
himself and thus Double Thumbs ended its short life. Double
Thumbs still lives on a little within DZX Productions however... if
you look hard enough you may find one or two of the Double Thumb's
references carefully scattered within this website.
Although AMVs come at an extreme rarity for Waffles, he makes up for
this with contributions of creative artwork, unique ideas, as well as
being a pivotal and excellent writer for DZX's own Promised Land RPG.
Waffle King brings to DZX Productions that extra bit of fun and
creative flair that we hope will allow us to branch out and grow both
as friends and as a group of striving directors / producers / artists.
Being an avid gamer / anime fan / Silent Hill dictionary / artist,
Waffles is a very lively personality on the DZX Productions message
board and helps pump a lifeblood of fun to DZX and its fan-base. Be
sure to look out for the humor of Waffles as time progresses. However,
as a
newly inducted DZX Productions member, much of the book on The
Waffle King has yet to be written and we can't wait for his
contributions. |
