Spirited Away (10/31/04)
Transported by the surrounding of wings
(After a mysterious exchange, Lynx is transported to the Alpha Continent by a mysterious girl. My second Lynx picture. It was surprisingly easy to draw once I got the hang of Lynx's outfit. ^_^ )
Battling Memories (10/31/04)
A bout of inner struggle
(Prodigi's conscious and subconscious collide in a burst of angst. I drew this with no prior planning, it just basically drew itself, at a time where I was having a hard time myself. I was in a hospital with my grandma, hoping to get her injections to ease her schizophrenia symptoms that had returned due to a negligent psychiatrist. So the drawing was often interrupted by me having to keep an eye on her and forcibly pull her away from other patients. I guess it has authentic emotion in that respect.)
Sephiroth X vs. Bax Firago
(Reacting to his nightmare, Sephiroth X has challenged the Phoenian king, who answers with equally impressive strength. This took me about five hours to draw, since it was pretty small on paper and I managed to have some good luck with preliminary sketching; I have a VERY hard time drawing two or more figures together, since that makes me have to worry about several sets of proportion instead of just one... which I already have a hard time with as it is. =P I did the background and some lighting in Photoshop, since it'd be a waste of time and graphite to scribble in darkness myself. I always mess stuff like that up anyway.)
By Any Means Necessary (smaller)
A price paid to stab a monster
(With a creature behind him, about to tear in, Prodigi has no choice but to stab the monster... through himself. He effectively pins it into the wall and halts its onslaught with this unusual and wrenching retaliation. Another old pic that I decided to finish. I had no idea how to draw the monster thingie, but I guess it doesn't really matter 'cuz it's dead. =P)
Welcome Company: Familiar Blue
A sight for sore eyes
(I've left it black-and-white, but I colored the eyes to emphasize the blue that welcomed Bax upon his awakening in the Senate prison. That's the scene that pic is from, after all.)
Another friend, another bullet
(That's twice now, that someone has cared for Zack/Claude. And twice now, that that person has shoved him out of the path of bullets. Yeah, Bax's position is wrong, but I drew this before ShadowPhoenix had posted what it was, so gimme a break. =P I couldn't draw his face yet anyway cuz I was still trying to figure out how to draw him. [Aged quote: He does deserve one where he's not eating sand, after all. ^_^() ] )
Blue Fury (sketch) (color) (smaller sketch) (color)
Rage of the Spirit Slash
(I always have a terrible time with fore-shortening and skewed perspective, but I think it turned out surprisingly good in this pic, both with his arm and his trunk. It felt good to let unbridled rage out through the pencil. >:) And yes I curved his sword on purpose, to create a sense of motion.)
The tearing claws of Memory
(Claude temporarily remembers the death of his brother, and for the first time is forced to mourn. The event with Bax had just been too similar for his subconscious to hold back. I don't know what else to say... it came out pretty good, really simple yet emotional.)
Even from afar, Bax is soothed by memories of a woman he loved
(The full moon brings Bax's thoughts to memories of the woman he had given his heart to. A tear of happiness slides from the Phoenian's eye, and his spirit is uplifted despite his recent hardships. ... At least I finally did more background scribbling than usual; I remembered how in my art classes, the teachers said my strength was in my "beautiful gestural marks", so I left some o' those in there, and let the shading in the background be loose and lively.)
"I'll See You Later" (smaller) (11/9/04) (new)
Dragoon's haunting presence recedes, leaving Zack silent.
(The man's disturbing aura has subdued Zack, and Dragoon's breezy parting promises a future meeting. Meh, it coulda been better, but coulda been worse too. I meant the drawing, hehe, though the encounter certainly could have been worse too. ;) )
The Last Kiss (smaller) (11/9/04) (new)
Sorrow, pain, and love converge in a final gesture
(Sephiroth and Catrina, about to be pulled apart by a tragic accident of the worst kind, share their final moments in each other's loving arms. Their lips meet to speak words which cannot be said in their quickly fading time together. And in the back, looms the figure responsible for the wrenching scene. *sigh* It's so sad... I resolved to draw this scene the moment I was done reading it. And thankfully, Sephiroth X feels I did indeed do this scene justice. )
